Design Study 73.5° seeks to integrate a piece of sports equipment into the home environment, giving users the freedom to experiment with different frame geometries.

The results show that the focus should be on precise ergonomic adjustment and an interactive riding experience. The trainer’s mobility makes it possible to replicate typical cycling movements, allowing them to be trained in a more targeted way.

By using artificial muscle technology, the rider can be decoupled from the base, allowing a more natural motion. The structure is inspired by the human spine, where multiple vertebrae support the weight. Between these segments are HASEL actuators – soft, flexible elements that combine electrostatic forces with fluid pressure to create mechanical movement. They enable the trainer to tilt forward, sideways, and backward, replicating the swaying of a bike or the sensation of climbing, and delivering a highly realistic riding experience.

To create realistic pedaling resistance, the system uses a synchronous motor that can also generate electricity. The crank axle itself acts as the rotating part of the generator, while the housing contains coils that produce power. This way, the trainer not only simulates resistance naturally but can also run independently without needing an external power supply.

The basic shape of the 73.5° concept is based on the typical seat tube angle of a road bike. By shifting the main frame along this angle and extending the handlebar horizontally, virtually any frame geometry can be replicated—covering sizes from 3XS to 2XL.

This makes bike fitting at home possible, helping not only hobby riders find their ideal position but also enabling enthusiasts and professionals to fine-tune theirs through adaptive training.

A mobile app stores individual rider profiles, allowing automatic switching between users. By integrating manufacturers’ geometry tables, riders can even test the feel of a bike virtually before making a purchase.

40mm of travel. The F 132 ONE gravel suspension fork was developed in close collaboration between the Canyon Design Team and DT Swiss engineering

Our focus was on the overall design and 3d modelling of all parts, including the fork crown and the lower. The design team created fully detailed 3D models, optimized for tooling and ready for handover to DT Swiss. The result is a clean, integrated solution that balances performance and bikepacking functionality.

Bench 25

Bench 25 is a cast concrete installation that invites people to sit and relax in special locations. Whether placed on a dune, a hill, or in a city park, it provides shelter from wind and weather. Depending on the time of day, visitors can enjoy the sunrise or sunset while seated.

Visualisation

From initial concepts to final presentations, compelling visuals bring ideas to life. Visualisation plays a crucial role in communicating design intent. This collection presents high-quality renders from past projects, each crafted to highlight form, function, and detail with clarity.
